Caloundra Reunion 2014

First official notice for Caloundra reunion 2014

Reunion Caloundra
2014
G’day all,
At a meeting held this week we finalised some of the major points for the 2014 reunion. Most of the decisions were made using feedback from the questionnaire sent out by Terry late last year. We know not all will be happy with what we have come up with but we have done our best given the information provided.
Dates
The dates for the reunion are as follows:
10 February 2014 To 15 February 2014.
The dates were arrived at due to:
·         The best weather conditions through the year
·         The finish of the school holidays and
·         The best tariffs available.
Accommodation
We recommend one of two parks:
The Caloundra Waterfront Holiday Park or Golden Beach Holiday Park.
The Caloundra Waterfront Holiday Park.
·         The park has a variety of caravan sites
·         One, two or three bedroom cabins. Some cabins sleep up to eight people
·         It is walking distance from the CBD of Caloundra and the RSL
·         Serviced by free courtesy buses from the RSL, Power Boat Club, Caloundra Bowls Club and Kings Beach Surf Club.
For further detailed information see the above web site. This was formerly the Hibiscus Holiday Park.
When making a booking please state the length of your van.
Golden Beach Holiday Park
·         The park has a variety of caravan sites
·         Five Cabins
·         Several motel style units
·         Walking distance from Power Boat Club and Golden Beach shopping centre
·          Serviced by free courtesy buses from the RSL, Power Boat Club, Caloundra Bowls Club and Kings Beach Surf Club
·         Pet friendly (but has pet rules)

For further detailed information see the above web site.

Resort and Holiday Units
It would be impossible to list or recommend this style of accommodation here, as there are so many and at all price ranges. We have listed below two guides which will assist.

We have also placed below a link to all the information centres on the Sunshine Coast.
Registration
Attached is a registration form we would like you to fill out and return and soon as you can. A small commitment fee of $5 per family is required not per person. The form will assist us in planning, so a quick return will help.
Memorabilia
Memorabilia will be limited to a Cap and Stubby Holder as stated in our previous email. As soon as we have the design and price sorted out we will send out a return form for the purchase of the items.

Events
It has been stated by members that we tend to Over-Organise things and that members never had time to spend in their smaller groups (hut group, year of service). So this reunion we will be trying a self-pacing week of events. In other words you organise your own day. The Power Boat Club will allow us to have a “Happy Hour” (or two or three) at the completion of each day. (This will be a free can and wine bar, depending on the how much we drink determines the length of time the bar stays open) In this way we will be able to meet in fellowship and discuss or recommend outings for others. We will have staff members from other clubs, pubs, taverns and tourist attractions at our registration day to assist you to plan your week.
Reunion Dinner
The reunion Dinner is to be held at the Power Boat Club. We will send out a separate notification on the dinner with cost and menu. However, depending on how much we spend on the happy hours and how we go with the raffles, we will try to put as much over the bar as we can. That is our commitment to you.
Raffles
Once again we will be running raffles to help subsidise the reunion. To that end, if you have any prizes we can use please contact:
·         Cathy Schultz  07 5494 7800
·         Angela Mohr  07 5438 2402
Committee

We know this reunion is a little different from our previous formats but please stay positive and see how it goes.  We can always revert to the former if required.

Archie

Where in Gods name is this rogue? The last time I saw him was the opening of the Vietnam Memorial in Canberra and the Leagues Club. He was in charge of ground maintenance at the School of Transport Puckapunyal. The place to be was the maintenance hut on a hot day.
Is he still with us?

Australian Military Vehicle Museum

    About the museum

Welcome to our Museum, which is operated on a volunteer basis by members of the Military Vehicle Preservation Society of South Australia. The Society is one of many Military Vehicle Clubs across Australia and throughout the world and its members are dedicated to the preservation of vehicles that are of military origin. The museum was developed as away of providing undercover storage for the vehicles and at the same time allowing the public to view them.
Opened in August 1993 with the principal support of Messenger Press and Port Adelaide Council this museum is unique number of ways. The majority of the vehicles are privately owned by the Society members and therefore each member is responsible for their own vehicles. In addition the vehicles are not just restored to look at, they are rebuilt to authentic running condition and most are road registered and driven regularly. Military vehicles and items range from the First World War to current times.
Should you require further information about the Museum or the Society one of our members in attendance would be pleased to assist. You are also invited to loan or donate items to the Museum for display purposes. Alternatively you can contact us or email us. Take a virtual tour through our Museum now.

Stage 2 Opening Brochure

G'day all,

Following is the text of a email that went out on the 16 Jan 13:

G’day all,
I We am sorry for the test emails you are receiving I am in the process of fixing my email group listings. Take it from me, never change you computer system without having a backup copy of your address book, enough about that.
All going well within a week or two I will be able to give you concrete info on the next reunion . What I can tell you is:
  • The reunion will be in Caloundra
  • Accommodation will be the Caloundra Waterfront Holiday Park ( The old Hibiscus caravan park). Please don’t ring as yet as final arrangements and dates have not been made. However, following is their web site so you can have a bit of a look. http://www.caloundraholidaypark.com.au/
  • Dates, some time between school holidays and Easter 2014.
  • Reunion dinner at the moment will be at the Caloundra Power Boat Club, http://www.caloundrapowerboat.com.au/ if they are not booked out. There are plenty of venues that will take us on. More to follow.
  • The dinner is the only official event we will organising, the feedback from the last reunion is telling us we over-organised the event. There are plenty of things to do and places to go on the Sunshine Coast it would be impossible to please all so we will be leaving it up to you. http://www.visitsunshinecoast.com.au/travel-information/visitor-information-centres This web site will give you all the information you need about the Sunshine Coast. We will have people from some of the venues at the registration so you can have a bit of a chat with them.
  • Memorabilia will be kept to a minimum (also from feedback) stubby holder and cap, maybe.
I will try and get the blog site up and running, I am having some trouble with it. I will inform you when it is going. Please pass this info on to anyone you know who is not on the internet.
Feel free to contact us through email any time with any ideas you may have.
We hope you are all well
